Enquanto uns deixam as bicicletas junto à entrada da estação, outros preferem deixar junto ao horário dos comboios, se calhar porque precisam de o consultar antes de apanhar um.

Whilst some leave their bicycles by the entrance of the station, others prefer to leave by the trains timetable, perhaps because they need to consult it before taking one.

Agora uma da terra de horizonte e mar... Apesar de existir uma armação própria para deixar a bicicleta esta foi deixada presa ao sinal que indica o estacionamento reservado. O dono pode ter ficado confuso por não ser ainda habitual este tipo de infraestrutura...

Now one from the land of horizon and sea... Although there is a specific bicycle rack this one was locked to the signal that indicates the reserved parking. Its owner might have been confuse since these infrastructures are not yet common...

0619 - Perfect fit

Não sei se foi mesmo de propósito mas na parte destinada à carga cabe perfeitamente 2 caixas de fruta. Apesar de não ser facilmente perceptível na foto, outro pormenor curioso desta bicicleta é a buzina vermelha.

Don't know if it was meant this way but the cargo area is a perfect fit for 2 fruits boxes. Although not easily perceivable in the photo, another curious detail of this bicycle is the red bulb horn.

0617 - Old, old..

Esta bicicleta de 1929, de Nicolas Frantz, tem aros de madeira, travões à frente e a atrás, accionados do volante na posição onde se colocam as mãos e com com cabos de aço. Os pedais já tem estribos, e apesar de ter apenas uma velocidade, as rodas já têm um sistema de aperto e desaperto rápido que lhes permitia mudar a roda (e a velocidade) antes das grandes subidas (reparem que tem dois carretos, um de cada lado). Ou remendar os furos, porque os pneus já são câmara de ar. Achamos que nesta fase só os próprios ciclistas estavam autorizados a fazer a manutenção da sua própria bicicleta durante as etapas. Os mecânicos das equipas são uma coisa mais tardia...

This 1929 bicycle from Nicolas Frantz already has wooden rims, front and back brakes operated from the position where the hands are usually placed and via steel cables. The pedals now have stirrups and although it only has one speed the wheels have fast locking mechanism allowing the change of the wheel (and the speed) before the big climbs (notice the two gears, one each side). And fix the punctures since the tires are tubed ones. We think that during this time only the riders themselves were authorized to work on their own bikes during stages. Team mechanics appeared later...

0616 - In the metro

Tal dito noutra publicação anterior, as bicicletas podem ser levadas dentro do metro, apesar de pelas regras o número total ser limitado e terem lugar próprio para as mesmas, mas quando viaja pouca gente, não tem problema em estar junto do dono.

As said previously on another post the bicycles can be carried inside the metro, although by the rules the total number is limited and they have a specific spot for them, but when there is few people, there is no problem to be next to the owner.
