At the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, where I did my master's thesis in 2008 yet there is one parking place for bicycles. 4 years after having spent part of my academic life in the promotion of cycling as a mode of travel in Lisbon, this is the response and support from my teachers mobility cycling. 100 fotos dá um marco histórico na vida de um blogue. 100 dias a pedalar numa cidade como Lisboa dá uma tese de mestrado. Em 2008, um engenheiro de estradas abandonou a utilização do seu automóvel e passou a utilizar em exclusivo uma bicicleta para se fazer deslocar para o trabalho, para a universidade, para ir às compras, para sair à noite. Tudo em nome de um trabalho académico para provar que Lisboa é ciclável sob o ponto de vista das inclinações e das distâncias, tão ciclável como qualquer outra cidade europeia. Só faltam mesmo os corredores BICI e mais gente a pedalar.

100 photos gives a milestone in the life of a blog. 100 days to ride in a city like Lisbon gives a master's thesis. In 2008, a road engineer abandoned the use of his car and began to use exclusively a bicycle to make travel to work, to college, to go shopping, to go out. Seja por uma questão geracional, social, de crise económica, de rapidez, porque os transportes públicos e o combustível estão cada vez mais caros, ou puramente por uma questão de liberdade de escolha pessoal, o certo é que estamos a meio do Inverno e já se avistam às dezenas estacionadas ou a circular pela zona central, junto ao rio ou no planalto central onde se encontram os serviços e as universidades. 2012 vai ser o Ano UM de uma Lisboa ciclável. Venham daí!

A Câmara Municipal de Lisboa já há algum tempo que vai dando sinais de abertura e apoio à mobilidade ciclável na cidade. Para além de colocar diversos estacionamentos para motos e bicis espalhados pela cidade (este na Praça do Município, na Baixa), recentemente anunciou a criação de mais 22 corredores BUS, que indirectamente irão beneficiar os ciclistas que nelas se sentem mais seguros a circular. Só falta adequar o código da estrada e oficializar/legalizar os corredores BUS+Bici. Venham mais destas!
