0613 - Reliquias

A bicicleta de François Faber, de 1909, só tem travão à frente, e não se vê bem (mas vê-se) é mecânico (não é cabo de aço) sendo accionado a meio do guiador (pelo que tinham que mudar as mãos de sítio para travar). O calço metálico faz pressão na parte de cima do pneu que é compacto (não tem ar). Atrás, não sabemos mas talvez com os pés... Só tinha uma velocidade e pedais sem estribos....

The 1909 bicycle of François Faber only has front brakes, and (not easily visible) a mechanical one operated in the middle of the handle bar (meaning the cyclist had to move his hands to brake). The metallic brake shoe pressures the upper part of the compact tire (no air). At the back, no idea but probably they braked with the feet... The bike only had 1 speed and pedals without stirrups...
